Trouble & Hip-Hop

Trouble & Hip-Hop

In the world of hip-hop trouble is around every corner. Many of todays artist find themselves in situations that often land them in jail and in some cases prison. In the last five years alone such artist as Clifford (T.I.) Harris, Radric (Gucci mane) Davis, Torrence (Lil Boosie) Hatch and Dwayne (Lil Wayne) Carter have all served time behind bars for a significant amount of time for various charges or violations.

When it comes to T.I. he’s served two different year long prison terms. The most recent being for violation of his parole in which he had served a one-year federal prison sentence for possession unregistered weapons, and possession of firearms by a convicted felon. After serving his eleven-month parole violation sentence T.I. has promised his fans that he’ll never leave them again and promises to return to the top of the hip-hop world.

Gucci Mane has been in and out of jail since the age of seventeen. Gucci was charged with murder in 2005. Those charges were later dropped due to lack of evidence. In 2008 Gucci found himself in trouble with the law again when he violated his probation and was ordered to serve a one-year sentence. Gucci has had numerous run-ins with authorities and is currently in county jail for his latest assault charge and scheduled to be released December 11th 2011.

Lil Boosie is currently serving time for the 1st degree murder of Terry Boyd and may be facing the death penalty. Although Boosie maintains his innocence some of the information that has been released states that Boosie paid a hit man to kill Boyd. The district attorneys office and prosecutors are also trying to connect Lil Boosie to five separate murders as well.

The hip-hop lifestyle is one of great responsibly along with even greater criticism; every move a

high profile artist makes is under a watchful eye by media and paparazzi alike.  In closing I

quote Jay-Z “This is the life I chose not the life that chose me”
